Texas is probably not the among the places that comes to mind when you are thinking about where great American wines come from, but it should be. Today, Texas is producing some top quality wines and is the fifth largest producer in the country.
To get a feel for just how good Texas wine production really is, treat yourself to a bottle or two from one of the top 5 wineries in the great state of Texas.
Everything is bigger in Texas and Ste. Genevieve is the biggest winery Texas has to offer. Llano Estacado produces about 220,000 case of wine each year. They have proven themselves to be quite talented. They have continued to capture awards at wine competitions around the globe and have had their wines served at the White House during the Reagan Administration.
Becker Vineyards produces 50,000 case each year. This may seem a paltry sum compared to the previous entries, but the wine Dr. Richard Becker produces are first rate. Bush served Becker wines during his time in the White House on several occasions.
